Loan Purposes
From course fees to study-abroad costs, this loan can help working students and upskilling professionals fund their education.
Cover the cost of a part-time course, certification, or professional upskilling programme.
Fund tuition, travel, or living costs for an overseas study programme you're pursuing alongside your job.
Cover textbooks, equipment, or software needed for your studies or professional development.
Manage day-to-day expenses while balancing study commitments alongside work.
Not the MOE Study Loan, an option based on your own income:
This isn’t the MOE Tuition Fee Loan or Study Loan, those are government schemes for full-time students on MOE-subsidised programmes, assessed against household income and usually requiring a guarantor. This loan is different: it’s assessed on your own personal income, which means it’s an option if you’re working while studying, whether part-time, upskilling alongside a job, or funding overseas study you’re pursuing while employed.
As a licensed moneylender, we still walk you through your loan contract clearly before you sign, covering the loan amount, interest rate, repayment schedule and fees, so you know exactly what you’re committing to.
Since this loan is assessed on your personal income rather than a household means test, the maximum you may borrow at any time, across all licensed moneylenders in Singapore combined, depends on your annual income and residency status, as shown below.
Not sure what your monthly repayments might look like? Try our Loan Calculator to get an estimate before you apply.
| Annual Income | Singapore Citizen and Permanent Resident | Foreigners Residing in Singapore |
|---|---|---|
| Less than $10,000 | $3,000 | $500 |
| $10,000 but less than $20,000 | $3,000 | $3,000 |
| $20,000 and above | 6 times the monthly income | 6 times the monthly income |
These limits apply specifically to unsecured cash loans in Singapore. Here’s what borrowers should keep in mind:
As a licensed moneylender, we are bound by strict limits set by the Ministry of Law. Here is what applies to your loan:
If you’re a full-time student on an MOE-subsidised programme, the MOE Tuition Fee Loan or Study Loan is likely a more affordable option, since it’s interest-free during your studies for many applicants. This loan is intended for those who don’t qualify for those schemes, such as working students, part-time learners, or those upskilling outside a full-time programme.
Borrow only what you need, and factor the repayment into your budget alongside your work and study commitments. Our responsible borrowing checklist is a useful starting point before you apply.

FAQ
Answers to common questions about funding education or upskilling while working in Singapore.
No. The MOE Tuition Fee Loan and Study Loan are government schemes for full-time students on MOE-subsidised programmes, assessed against household income and usually requiring a guarantor.
A BST Credit loan is a personal loan assessed on your own income, an option if you’re working while studying, part-time, upskilling, or funding overseas study alongside your job, rather than a full-time MOE-subsidised programme.
You’ll need a steady income to be eligible, so if you’re a full-time student without independent income, this loan likely isn’t the right fit, the MOE Tuition Fee Loan or Study Loan is probably more suitable and more affordable for your situation. This loan is intended for working students and those with their own income.
The maximum you can borrow depends on your annual income and residency status, and this limit applies across all licensed moneylenders in Singapore combined, not per lender.
Licensed moneylenders in Singapore are regulated by the Ministry of Law to keep borrowing fair and transparent.
To apply, you should be 21 years old or above, be a Singapore Citizen, PR, or valid Work Pass holder (EP, S Pass, WP), and have a steady income, whether from part-time, full-time, or self-employed work.
You can check the official Registry of Moneylenders maintained by the Ministry of Law. Always apply only through official websites or verified contact channels to avoid unlicensed lenders. Read our full guide on how to check if a moneylender is licensed for a step-by-step walkthrough.
The Registry of Moneylenders cannot negotiate with lenders on your behalf, as this is a matter of private contract. If you’re facing financial difficulties, you may wish to approach a social service agency for credit counselling and help negotiating a repayment plan, such as Credit Counselling Singapore (6225 5227), which handles cases that also involve bank debts.
